Instructions
- In a stand mixer, combine all dy ingredients using the dough hook until well mixed.
- Warm milk and butter together on a low heat until the butter is melted.
- Add milk to spice mix in a slow stream, followed by the eggs.
- Using the dough hook on low-med speed, knead the dough for 5-7 mins until elastic and soft.
- Remove dough, lightly oil the bowl and place dough back in. Cover with cling film or a damp towel and allow to prove for 40 mins in a draft free place.
- Pre-heat oven to 200°c fan forced.
- Gently form the dough into a log about 8cm thick and cut into 12 even pieces.
- Roll each piece into a ball and nestle together in an oiled pan big enough to have about 2 cm between each one.
- Let your buns prove for another 30 mins covered until they've almost doubled in size.
- Baste your buns with a light egg and milk wash.
- Combine flour and water and whisk until smooth. You don't want it too runny or too thick.
- Pipe lovely hearts, x's and o's onto your buns.
- Bake for 30 mins until they are a deep, golden brown.
- Eat with your love bunnies while still warm with lots of butter.
